Veneers
Veneers
are used to close gaps and/or cover teeth
that are crooked or poorly shaped, to give
the patient a more appealing smile.
An
impression of the tooth is made, and a veneer
is then made from the impression to match
the color and shape of your tooth. Once this
is done, the front of your tooth then needs
to be "roughed" so that the veneer
will adhere. The veneer is set in place using
composite resin cements. This procedure is
usually irreversible due to the amount of
enamel that is removed to accommodate the thickness
of the veneer itself.
Veneers
can chip or peel off if not taken care of.
As with any procedure, you should maintain
the longevity by brushing and flossing regularly,
and by keeping up with your regularly scheduled
checkups.
